How Do You Build Your Network?

Here are three things you can do to build your network:

1. Review your contacts list – whether that’s a database, your email system or the people you know on LinkedIn. Go through all your contacts to check that you have their most up to date details.

2. Get back in touch with people you’ve not seen or spoken to for some time. Tell them what you’re up to and ask who they would like to be introduced to. Not sure about who one of your connections is, or what they do? Get in touch and ask them, rather than closing the door on them.

3. Keep in touch by being resourceful. Send useful articles to your specialists as they may not have seen them. A quick email with a link to a website doesn’t take much time, is easy to do and is a great way to keep in touch with your contacts.

It’s always best to acknowledge what you’re good at and think about how to apply your strengths and get more from them. When you accept that you don’t have to be great at everything, you can focus on finding the people who you need in your network, who can fill in the gaps for you.
