Our Name

We used to trade as ATP – Achieving Through People – but wanted a name that would better sum up our verve and positivity. Many ideas were considered, reviewed and discounted, then Absolute Learning appeared. It had to be ‘Learning’ rather than ‘Training.’ Anita Roddick of the Body Shop once said that you train dogs, while people learn – and we had no experience of dog training. ‘Absolute’ came from a CD of the same name by the James Taylor Quartet, the Hammond organ led Acid Jazz group. Rather helpfully, they had placed a dictionary definition on the cover. Absolute adj. – free from limits, restrictions or conditions: certain, positive: complete: unlimited: independent.

No vodka was consumed at any stage of the naming process … but some good red wine was involved.
